John Grasta was born and raised in Rochester New York, learning to fly fish when he was 12 years old.  His fly fishing has been dedicated to freshwater for 45 years as well as over 20 of those years in saltwater.  Moving to Central Florida 16 years ago he concentrated his pursuit to Spey fishing and has created an innovative casting method called JBF SPEY. Honing his skills, he has successfully caught over 90 fish species on single hand fly rod and 80 fish species and counting on a 2 handed Spey rod. His innovative fly tying has earned him a notable international following, as well as his custom Spey rigging. John promotes several fly fishing events, where he has exhibited his Spey casting method to numerous crowds with his best Spey cast reaching 172 feet.  In the Central Florida area, he teaches both single hand fly casting as well as his innovative JBF Spey casting method.
